A time to remember past struggles, increase positive community visibility, and promote equal rights and social acceptance for all Minor Attracted Persons.
31 days dedicated to commemorating the contributions of boylovers, girl-lovers, child-lovers, teen-lovers, and other minor attracted individuals, for living positive lives and demonstrating that MAPs (minor attracted people) are just normal people like everyone else, with the same level of morality and goodness that you would expect to find in any gay or straight person.
In the United States and around the world, MAP Pride Month is observed every August, with the first official month of celebration having taken place in August of 2025.
The idea behind MAP Pride Month is simple. We are all born with different abilities, skin color, height, gender and LGBT status (or not). And as we are all human, we are all deserving of basic life, liberty and happiness -- despite our ethnicity, eye color, whether we are left or right handed, and whether we are attracted to one type of person, or another. We attest that our feelings are based on genuine love that deserves the recognition and legitimacy that others take for granted.
Why the Need for a Pride Month?
* Honoring our History: As with any other community, the important events and milestones must be recorded and preserved, especially in our case where opposing elements attempt to constantly wipe out not just our history but our very existance.
* Increasing Visibility: Being open and visible as a community helps reduce isolation, individual levels of depression, and shows support for both youth and adult rights. It also demonstrates a transparency that stands to correct the common misconception of MAP culture being "criminal".
* Fighting the Good Fight: It highlights the ongoing legal and social battles for the safety, equality, and human rights that must be afforded every MAP, and indicates that it won't stop until this is achieved.
* Fostering Community: It helps create awareness of the need to have safe spaces for celebration, self-expression, and mutual support.
Why Should I be Proud to be a MAP?
It's "pride" as in the opposite of "shame". There are, sadly, many in this world who still believe that minor attracted people are bad, simply for how they were born, and should be ashamed of who they are. Some also, unbelievably, openly wish harm and even death upon MAPs. So there is obviously still a lot of discrimination and hatred that we face, and people who are trying to erase our basic equal rights, and even our very existance.
Therefore, in the face of those who are telling us that we can't ever express who we are, and that being minor attracted is somehow "bad" or "immoral", we openly disagree with their slander, show that we are proud to be who we are, and that we are NOT ashamed.
